It’s no secret that Navarre Beach and the surrounding area is Florida’s Most Relaxing Place. Families looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life should hop in the car for a weekend escape to our quiet beach town. While there are plenty of activities to do and enjoy, we thought we’d save you some work and plan the perfect family escape for you right here.
Spend the Day: Blackwater River State Park
Hop into a canoe or kayak and enjoy a day exploring one of the purest sand-bottom rivers in the world! Take a lunch break (we recommend packing some sandwiches and snacks for the day), followed by an afternoon hike along trails covering more than 600 acres of undisturbed natural landscape.
Kick Back in the Evening: Around the Campfire
Blackwater River has a lot of great sandbars that you can camp out on. If you are not keen on staying, dig a hole, gather some firewood and light a campfire for the evening. Once the sun sets, look up at the night sky as you may see a neighboring planet!
Breakfast: Sailors’ Grill
Get a scenic breakfast at Sailors’ Grill. Open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., enjoy your morning on the deck with a variety of delicious dishes, including omelets, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, French toast, and breakfast bowls, which even include options like shrimp and grits.
Spend the Day: Navarre Beach
Soak up the famous Florida sunshine with a day on one of Florida’s most relaxing escapes—Navarre Beach. From building sandcastles out of pure white quartz sand to paddle boarding on the emerald Gulf of Mexico and swimming and diving among artificial coral reefs, there’s more than enough fun to fill your day!
Spend the Day: Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center
Learn about Sweet Pea and her family of sea turtles, plus other marine wildlife like jellyfish, seahorses and coral reefs when you visit the educational and interactive Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center.
Lunch: The Slippery Mermaid
Enjoy colorful and creative sushi selections at this charming cottage, another local favorite. The Slippery Mermaid offers a full range of sushi selections, based on whether you’re new to nigiri and want something fully cooked or an expert when it comes to all things raw.
Breakfast: Alphy’s Family Restaurant
If you’re in the mood for a no-frills, hearty, yummy Southern breakfast, come over to Alphy’s. Just a few miles from Navarre Beach, Alphy’s has all your down-home favorites: biscuits and gravy, country-fried steak, hotcakes and even catfish!
Spend the Day: Gulf Breeze Zoo
Get in touch with your animal spirit by getting up close and personal with lions, tigers, gorillas, rhinos and more. You can even go behind the scenes of zookeeper life and feed our friendly giraffes yourself! Afterwards, hop aboard the Safari Express Train and have a mini African adventure.
Spend the day: Fishing on the Pier
The Pier is the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy Florida’s favorite pastime. Catch some of the Gulf Coast’s most exciting fish including Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Red Snapper, King Mackerel, Wahoo, Cobia and more. The Pier is open until 9 p.m., so be sure to take a family photo with one of our stunning Florida sunsets as a backdrop.
Kick Back in the Evening: Sailor’s Grill
After a day of adventure, catch your final Navarre Beach sunset at Sailor’s Grill at Juana’s Pagodas. Enjoy fresh-caught seafood specialties served oceanside in a casual, family-friendly setting while the sun sets on the best weekend getaway ever!
But the fun doesn’t have to stop here!
This is only a fraction of all the family fun to be had in Navarre Beach, Milton and surrounding areas. With everything from zip lining to tours through historical districts and adventures through wildlife preserves, there’s enough to make the trip magical for everyone in your crew. With no shortage of things to do, we’re betting that when you leave, you’ll already be planning a return trip. And when that happens, we’ll be here again to help!
