Day 2: Choose Your Adventure
Option 1: Blackwater River State Park
In this first option for day two, you’ll travel to Blackwater River State Park, a peaceful oasis about 40 minutes north of Navarre Beach. One of the most popular things to do here is to paddle or float along the tea-colored river waters (tinted from the natural tannin deposits) on a kayak, canoe, or tube. You can book river trips with Adventures Unlimited or Blackwater Canoe Rental. Remember that children aged six and under are legally required to wear a life jacket at all times while on any watercraft.
If you prefer to stay on land, explore the park’s shaded nature trails, spotting native wildlife and plants along the way. Or, if you want to take your trip to new heights, Adventures Unlimited offers ziplining experiences, including a breathtaking 900-foot ride over Coldwater Creek—perfect for older kids. When it’s time to refuel, enjoy a cozy meal at The Blackwater Bistro or make even the pickiest of eaters happy with pizza at the funky Boomerang Pizza Kitchen!
Option 2: Wildlife at Gulf Breeze Zoo
If your kids enjoyed meeting Sweet Pea on day one, they’re going to love the Gulf Breeze Zoo, home to over 1,000 animals from all around the world. Get up close with giraffes, camels, and even Highland cows at the feeding stations, or visit the petting area for hands-on fun with goats and sheep. Younger kids will love the CP Huntington Locomotive, a train ride through the zoo’s expansive 30-acre preserve featuring rhinos, antelope, and more!
End your day with dinner in Navarre Beach. TC’s Front Porch serves up delicious, casual fare in a laid-back setting, while Andy D’s offers family-friendly dining with plenty of coastal charm. Check out even more places to eat in Navarre here!
