Archaeology on Tap: Archaeology of a Civil War Battlefield

October 23 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Author Dr. William B. Lees will discuss his groundbreaking new book, “Honey Springs, Oklahoma: Historical Archaeology of a Civil War Battlefield.” Focusing on the pivotal 1863 Battle of Honey Springs—fought by Black, Native American, and White soldiers—this book offers a powerful reexamination of the Civil War in Indian Territory. Lees draws from historical records, archaeological findings, and terrain analysis to uncover overlooked perspectives and explore the complex loyalties of the region’s diverse participants. A must-hear for anyone interested in Civil War history, archaeology, or the voices too often left out of the story.
“Archaeology on Tap” is just like the long-standing program ArchaeoCafé… just hosted at a local brewery instead of a restaurant!
“Archaeology on Tap” is free and open to the community, but is recommended for adults. Seating is unreserved. The talk starts at 6 pm and guests are recommended to arrive by 5:45 pm to place drink orders and claim a seat before the talk begins.
